What actually is improv comedy?

Improv comedy is performed live without a script. The performers create characters, scenes, stories, and jokes in the moment, often inspired by small suggestions from the audience. The fun is that everyone in the room is discovering it at the same time.

How can a show work if nothing is scripted?

It works because the performers are trained to listen, build stories, follow patterns, and support each other on stage. The show is spontaneous, but it's not random. There's craft underneath it, even when the moment feels effortless.

Question 3

What if I'm not sure improv is my thing?

That's completely fine. A lot of people come to their first show with no idea what to expect. You don't need to know anything about improv to enjoy it; the show is designed to make sense in the room, as it happens.

Question 4

I've never been to an improv show. Will I enjoy it?

Accepted Answer

Almost certainly. You do not need any background knowledge to follow the show, and plenty of our regular audience members started as complete first-timers. Come as you are, get a drink, and let the performers do the work.

Will I be picked on or forced to participate?

Accepted Answer

No. Audience participation is always optional. We might ask the room for a word, a place, a story, or a choice, but you can take part as much or as little as you like. Sitting back and watching is completely welcome.

Is it suitable for people who don't speak English as a first language?

Yes. The shows are in English, but they're built around clear stories, characters, physical comedy, and shared moments. Our audiences often include people from many different language backgrounds.

Is there an age limit?

Our shows are recommended for audiences 16 and over. The content changes from show to show because everything is created live, so the shows are best suited to older teens and adults.

Is it suitable for groups or special occasions?

Absolutely. Groups, birthdays, and celebrations are always welcome. Just bear in mind it's a live show with other audience members, so we ask everyone to be considerate of the room.

Where do the shows take place?

Many of our shows are at Lygten Station, Lygten 2, 2400 Copenhagen NV. We're a 2 minute walk from Nørrebro metro and S-train stations. We occasionally use other venues, so always check the event page for the exact address before you travel.

Question 10

Is the venue accessible?

Accepted Answer

Lygten Station has step-free access and an accessible bathroom. The accessible entrance is separate, so please let us know in advance and we'll make sure you're taken care of. For other venues please check the venue details or contact us.

How long is a show?

Most of our shows run around 90 to 120 minutes including an interval. Some formats are shorter or structured differently, so the specific show page is always the best place to check.

Question 12

How do I buy tickets?

Tickets are sold through Billetto. Use the ticket button on the show or event page and it will take you directly to the listing. Booking in advance is a good idea, especially for popular shows.

Can I get a refund if I can't make it?

Tickets are non-refundable, but if we cancel an event you'll be offered a full refund. If you have an unusual situation, get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

What time should I arrive?

Doors usually open around 30 minutes before showtime. Arriving a little early gives you time to get a drink, find your seat, and settle in before the show begins.

What happens if I arrive late?

Entry may be delayed or refused after the show has started to avoid disrupting the performance. On busy nights, seats may be released if you haven't arrived close to showtime.

Is there a bar?

Yes. Lygten Station has a bar serving bottled and canned beers, wines, premade cocktails, and soft drinks. Drinks are available before the show and during the interval.

What shows do you run?

We have four regular formats: SuperCut, an improvised film created live on stage; The Hygge Show, a warm candlelit evening built from real stories; Funny Business, a bold and playful ensemble night sometimes joined by guests; and Seeing Double, two improv duos performing separately before combining in the second half. Each one is a completely different kind of night out.

Do I need to know anything about the genre for SuperCut?

Not at all. If the show is inspired by a genre, the performers give you everything you need on stage. Knowing the genre can add an extra layer of fun, but it's never homework.

Can I come back to the same show more than once?

Accepted Answer

Every show is improvised from scratch, so even within the same format, the story, characters, and energy are completely new each time. Many of our regulars have a favourite format they return to again and again.

Do you do private events or corporate shows?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We create private event entertainment for parties, weddings, celebrations, and company socials. We also run business workshops and team events. You can visit our Private Events page or get in touch and we'll help shape the right option.

Do you run improv classes?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Inconspicuous runs regular improv classes and workshops for different levels, from intermediate to experienced performers. Classes are run through a separate programme at classes.inconspicuous.eu.
